Product description

Coaching Youth Gymnastics covers all the basics of coaching and gymnastics in a concise style that is customized for entry-level gymnastics coaches. Developed by ASEP in cooperation with USA Gymnastics, this one-of-a-kind book offers a unique blend of general coaching and sport-specific information. The book’s 600-plus photos will help you understand skill technique and decide what skills to teach your athletes.

Included are Coaching Tips boxes that highlight key concepts, in addition to information on developing a coaching philosophy, communicating with athletes and parents, and providing basic sport first aid. The latest information regarding concussions and CDC protocols is also addressed. The book contains forms and safety checklists and sample lesson and practice plans to help you stay on task.

Techniques and skills for bars, floor, beam, and vault are presented by skill level rather than by age groups and are applicable to both boys and girls where appropriate. Information on falling and landing as well as suggestions on activities, conditioning, and games are provided.

The expertise of USA Gymnastics and ASEP’s proven success in coaching education will ensure that you are adequately prepared for the challenges of coaching youth gymnastics. With content aimed at developing the entire coach, not just skills and drills, Coaching Youth Gymnastics will help you to create an environment that promotes learning, enjoyment, safety, and motivation for youth gymnasts.

CORONADO, CA - AUGUST 13: A group of Navy Seal trainees in August of 2010 during Hell Week at a beach in Coronado, California. Hell Week at this beach in San Diego is exactly what it sounds like for third-week Navy Seal trainees who are subjected to nearly unimaginable physical and mental trials. Only the strongest survive the nonstop physical exercise of jogging for miles in deep sand, carrying heavy rubber boats back and forth through the surf, crawling through mud under simulated machine gun fire, myriads of pushups on demand. (Photo by Charles Ommanney/Getty Images) ** OUTS - ELSENT, FPG, CM - OUTS * NM, PH, VA if sourced by CT, LA or MoD ** (Charles Ommanney / Getty Images) Female SEALs. Navy SEAL operations aren't like driving a vessel or flying an aircraft, they require the most physically demanding capabilities. Swimming, running, climbing and hiking skills (all under heavy equipment load and in the harshest of conditions) must be far above average to effectively compete. The closest measures we have of such strength and endurance are physical sports like swimming, track and field, gymnastics, etc. , in which performance can be timed or scored. Since it has been illegal to discriminate against women in sports since the 1970s, you should ask yourself why women don't compete against men in sports. Compare the first-, second- and third-place finishing times of any of these physically demanding sports with those of men's top place finishers and the answer becomes obvious. Exceptional women who can place among the top three in any of the men's events may exist, but why haven't they. Perhaps society should require women to routinely compete in men's athletics and demonstrate above-average performance before we integrate them into the SEALs. Doing it before that point is just social engineering. I'm going to miss the coffee from our local coffee roaster, Cosmic Bean. Unfortunately, I didn't make the open house on Aug 22. I've been a regular customer for the past eight years, and have been satisfied with the consistency and quality of the product. I don't want to blame the Health Department for shutting down a small proprietor, because I do value what it does in keeping an eye on food production. But I do know that individual inspectors can get carried away with their responsibilities. In the '50s and '60s, my grandfather ran a small bakery in Aberdeen. Health inspectors regularly nitpicked and pointed out the pointless. On many occasions, my grandfather would chase the bullies out of his store. He could call on his customers, many of whom were from the local police department, to back him up. It seems like this particular story is so bizarre that there has to be something wrong with the facts as they have been presented. Equipping our high school students for college or life should be a priority for us. Semester testing — and thus learning to study and concentrate on class and assignments throughout the semester — becomes a necessity. Why do we keep "dumbing down" education for our kids. Also, I disagree with the thought that we should start grading at 50 percent, even if the student does nothing in the way of a serious attempt. That is not an example of how things go in real life. It promotes the idea of getting something for nothing. Students need to strive to do well, or at least better than they did before, so that they feel a sense of achievement. This will build up their self-confidence and ability to handle life as it comes. There is no better lesson can we give as educators. Two news threads seem directly related. The first are stories about immigration by people from Central America (as well as other places,.

Duo A&A (Anton and Adam) in a magnificent show of balance, strength, and parallel movement during their routine of strength and acrobatics at the Royal Hanneford Circus. The pose begins with Adam doing a handsone on Anton (who is upright). Slowly, Anton lowers himself into a kneeling position on all fours, then lifts both legs into the air as Adam simultaneously lowers his body into a horizontal pose. Only the power of their shoulders and arms keeps them in balance. At the Westchester County Civic Center in Westchester, New York, February 16, 2013. Adam Vazquez comes from a family which has been doing acrobatics for almost 150 years. He began in gymnastics, but for the past 14 years has been working in circuses. He's worked with Franco Dragon at Cirque du Soleil, and previously was best known as a solo hand balancer (speed-landing on his hands, balancing on his hands while support his body, etc.).
